CENTRE FOR HIMALAYAN ASIA STUDIES AND ENGAGEMENT (CHASE): CHASE is a think tank, focused on understanding issues impacting countries and societies in and around the Himalayan Asia region from an Indian perspective. It is a platform for exchange of knowledge, views and perspectives among Indian and international experts, researchers, writers and advocacy groups who take keen interests on various aspects of political, social, economic and strategic developments in this region.
PANELISTS:
VIJAY KRANTI : is a senior Indian journalist and photographer with special interest in Tibet, China and J&K. Currently he is the Chairman, Centre for Himalayan Asia Studies and Engagement (CHASE). He has been a keen observer of Tibet-India-China developments since 1972. Over past 50 years he has been on the staff of many reputed media groups which include India Today, BBC World, Aaj Tak, Zee News, DD News, Radio Voice of America & German Radio Deutsche Welle. He has over a dozen books to his credit.
GONPO DHUNDUP : is the President of Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC), the largest and oldest socio-political organization of Tibetan diaspora. As third generation Tibetan, born in exile in India, he is a front line political activist and a social worker. He is deeply admired by the younger generation of Tibetan Diaspora for his commitment to a free and independent Tibet. He believes that “effective protest campaigns on human rights, political, social and environmental issue affecting Tibet, not only put China on the spotlight but also adds global pressure on the Chinese leadership to be accountable for their actions.”
NAMGYAL DOLKAR LHAGYARI: Currently a Tibetan parliamentarian and former President of ‘Gu-Chu-Sum’ which is Dharamshal based association of former Tibetan political prisoners. Currently she is also serving as the vice president of Free Indo-Pacific Alliance which is composed of members from Tibet, Southern-Mongolia, Uyghur, Taiwan, HongKong etc. She spearheaded the Legal Empowerment project under Tibetan Women Association (TWA) flagship. Since completing her Master of Arts (MA) in English Literature she has been active on the socio-political front. Ms. Lhagyari has taken part, organized and represented Tibet in the various international conferences and meetings to raise the issue of Tibet at various local and international platforms.
