India China Relations
China and India are Asia’s largest economies. China is India’s biggest trading partner after the United States. Although China accounts for 5% of India’s total exports, India runs a significant trade deficit with China. The bonhomie in economic relationship between the two nations after Wuhan spirit and Chennai Connect is significantly dampened due to an ongoing military standoff. Further, in the domain of trade, India has decided not to join the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). RCEP is possibly one of the world’s largest trade agreements. The European union's mutual investment agreement with China is also a crucial development from Indian perspective. The solutions for India include deeper trade relations with the U.S. Many U.S. companies would like to diversify their global supply chains. These current developments can act as a fillip for the robust U.S.- India trade relationship.
